Piazza Statuto

Piazza Statuto is one of the most important squares in the city of Turin. It is located in the city center, has a rectangular shape, and is surrounded by the high porticoes typical of the Piedmontese capital. It is connected to the rest of the city thanks to the Metro (XVIII December stop), numerous public bus lines, and Bike and Car sharing services, which allow easy access and departure. There are numerous Restaurants, Pizzerias, and Fast Foods, as well as other essential services such as banks, pharmacies, and bar-tobacconists. From Piazza Statuto, numerous main streets and avenues of the city of Turin branch off: Corso Francia, the longest straight course in Europe, and Via Garibaldi, the most famous pedestrian street in Turin. At the center of the square is a large monument: the Frejus Tunnel fountain, a pyramidal structure made of large stones from the Frejus Tunnel, topped with the figure of a Winged Genius wearing a five-pointed star.

The history of this monument, and of the square in general, intertwines with the legends of Magical Turin, particularly concerning esotericism and black magic. In fact, the square is considered one of the points of the black magic triangle, along with two locations in the cities of London and San Francisco. According to other beliefs, the monument in Piazza Statuto would actually be nothing less than one of the gates of access to Hell.
